Just thought I would let all the bands who have or are still submitting to play New Noise understand why we have partnered with Sonic Bids to accept submissions for our event (as opposed to just doing it ourselves via e mail).
1) We think Sonic Bids is a great platform and a good way for bands to get all their sh*t together in one place.
2) We are a very small group of people who love music and want to bring the best to Santa Barbara for New Noise. Sonic Bids allows us (and bands) to be sure (or certain if you will) all artists are listened to receive a response within a pre determined date. Something which saves you time, and us.
3) Everyone involved in the festival and booking can comment, select their favorite bands, and advocate on their behalf in an organized fashion.
4) Sonic Bids guarantees that New Noise will select a pre determined number of artists who submit through the platform. We are proud to support bands who believe in themselves enough to submit.
5) Why do you charge? That's not very punk rock?
Sonic Bids is NOT a major source of revenue for New Noise. It just isn't. We charge (in our opinion) a reasonable $15.00 submission fee in order to pay for the use of the platform and our time... We also offer bands selected free admission to the New Noise conference (October 9 & 10).The small amount of money we do receive through Sonic Bids is going straight back into promoting bands for the festival to ensure people come out and discover new music they might not otherwise have ever heard.
New Noise is proud to say that NO bands playing our festival are forced to sell tickets- if you are playing, it is because we genuinely think you are a great band and our audience will dig you. We believe in grass roots marketing and trust that our bands will promote New Noise and themselves to the best of their ability so we can make this an annual event that is sustainable and fun for all involved.
In any event, thought I would personally post this to let bands, managers and people who care know why we do what we do. We thank all of you for your submissions, your support and your time in making New Noise the best it can be. It is only with the support and positive energy of the music community small time guys (& gals) like us and throw a pretty radical party.
We hope to see you either on stage or supporting other artists in October!
