CHECK OUT SOME OF THE NEW NOISE 2010 ARTISTS! ALL OF THESE BANDS RIP LIVE. WE PROMISE.

FITZ & THE TANTRUMS:

If you like to dance and you like bands that bring the heat, then be sure to check out Fitz and The Tantrums. Having just played Soho Restaurant and Music Club, we are stoked to have them back in town! They sound like they belong in 1969, keeping it classy and professional from start to finish. Fitz consists of front-man Fitz with cooler than cool crooning, funky drummer John Wicks, who is a Motown B-side aficionado and prolific session player, Jeremy Ruzumna who has manned the keyboards for Macy Gray and epic bassist Ethan Phillips who has backed De La Soul. Finally there’s Noelle Scaggs, the powerful voice behind Fitz’s croons. If Noelle’s energy doesn’t get you dancing then you may want to check your pulse. Scaggs and Fitz have an on-stage chemistry you have to see to believe!

SOULS OF MISCHIEF: '93 TIL INFINITY

From the bowels of the bustling metropolis of Oakland, California, four artists emerge with the determination, skill and pure talent to change the face of Hip Hop. The four combine to form Souls of Mischief; a feisty band of microphone marauders and beat plunderers.

The Souls of Mischief have been honing their skills for nearly two decades in the Oakland area. They all hail from the same area in East Oakland and have attended school together since elementary; their lasting friendship strengthened by their mutual interest in music. Battling hosts of MC's from far and near, and gaining fame as stunning lyricists, these four young men; A-plus, Opio, Phesto and Tajai, along with their musical family, Hieroglyphics, have worked at their craft until it has become like a sharp-edged sword, cutting through boundaries of sound and style. According to the smooth-flowing A-plus, "We're trying to present a broad spectrum and redefine what it is to be West Coast, and more importantly- Hip Hop in it's entirety." Straying from empty gangsterisms and other forms of negativity, these brothers try to constantly add to the quality and depth of Hip Hop. This is a very precarious position in a world where artists of a positive nature rarely reach critical acclaim, yet the Souls embrace the challenge.

JACK GRISHAM (T.S.O.L) & THE WEST COAST DUKES: CODE  BLUE LIVE FROM GILMAN ST.

Jack Grisham is the vocalist for the punk band T.S.O.L. , which stands for True Sounds of Liberty.  This LA- based band emerged from the 1980s punk rock scene, along with Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Social Distortion. Jack Grisham has fronted other bands such as The Joykiller, Tender Fury and Cathedral of Tears. He currently records with T.S.O.L. and Jack Grisham and the West Coast Dukes. In addition to his musical endeavors, Grisham is also a political activist and was a candidate for Governor of California in the 2003 recall election. In 2004, he ran for governor of California on a social democratic platform.

THE WHITE BUFFALO: LIVE IN ASPEN

The White Buffalo
The White Buffalo is nitty-gritty singer-songwriter who pays homage to a time when musicians really lived what they sang about. He is incredibly comfortable onstage and has an incredible vocal range.  He has only released one EP since emerging onto the scene, but has a catalogue of hundreds of songs. He is an artist in the  most true and most raw sense.

SAINT MOTEL: DEAR DICTATOR

New Noise SB Presents…
Saint Motel
The explosive, cinematic, indie-pop band Saint Motel is, to put it best, hard to resist, and damn fun. In the world of Saint Motel, nothing bows to convention: Stages become forests and living rooms, and shows become kaleidoscopic mind explosions in 3D. This theatrically creative world is due in large part to the fact that the gentlemen of Saint Motel share a distinct interest in cinema. The band's keen visual sensibility has yielded an array of stunningly original videos that accompany songs from their recently released debut EP ForPlay, released via the band's label On The Records.

DEAD COUNTRY: EUROTHRASH

Dead Country
Dead Country are the Silver Lake-based, S.B.-bred four-piece band that is fast becoming California’s next big buzz band. Thanks to a little help from the folks at L.A.’s modern rock monolith KROQ, the group’s first single, “Euro Thrash,” has become somewhat of a breakout hit, complete with gritty guitars, punching drum work, and the kind of lyrics that beg to be blasted and screamed along to. Without so much as a full-length album (they released their EP earlier this year), Dead Country has already toured with post-hardcore bands like Far and Sunny Day Real Estate, scored some noteworthy blog love, and recorded in L.A.’s famed 606 Studios (otherwise known as the home base of the Foo Fighters). ¬

PEANUT BUTTER WOLF:

HE'S MY BROTHER, SHE'S MY SISTER:

He’s My Brother, She’s My Sister consists of Rachel Kolar, Robert Kolar, Lauren Brown and Satya Bhabha. This quartet seamlessly blends country, bluegrass, indie-rock and tap dancing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You gotta see it to believe it. Here is part of a review written about them in the L.A. Record: “The crowd packed in nearly shoulder-to-shoulder and was already dancing at the beginning of the set.  The band consisted of four people: a stand-up bass man, a tap dancer and two singers multi-tasking between the kick drum and the tambourine.  By the end of their first song, “Straight Shooter,” the crowd was already smitten with their performance.  Cheers, claps, whistles and even calling out to the band members by name occurred perfectly with the end of every song.”

NICO VEGA

Nico Vega is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2005. The band consists of lead singer Aja Volkman, guitarist Rich Koehler and drummer Dan Epand. Comparisons have been made to The White Stripes in that they have never had a bass player. Nico Vega released several independent EPs and recorded their own videos to get their music out. Their hard work paid off when they got the attention of famed rock manager Doc McGhee of McGhee Entertainment. They already had a recording contract with MySpace Records and soon recorded their first full-length album simply titled "Nico Vega."

KYLE NICOLAIDES

WETLANDS:

Wetlands are a local band consisting of members Miguel Leon, Justin Flint, Dusty Ineman, Jeremy Reinck and Victor Murrilo. Their music blends the sounds of punk and soul with a side of Afro-Beat. The best thing about this band is that they are so stoked to be on stage! With tons of drums, freestyle musicianship and enough energy to power all of Santa Barbara, Wetlands really knows how to ‘bring it.’

HONEY HONEY:

Honey Honey offers a jazzy, twang-y collaboration between vocalist Suzanne Santo and guitarist Ben Jaffe.  They made their studio debut by issuing the Loose Boots EP in early 2008. They then hit the road, while finding time to work on their debut album called First Rodeo. It was released later that year, featuring varied influences that ranged from crossover jazz to new soul and engaging alt-country.

VOXHAUL BROADCAST

Friday, November 5
Voxhaul Broadcast
VOXHAUL BROADCAST members include David Dennis, Anthony Aguiar, Philip Munsey and Kurt Allen. Originally from Orange County, CA, the quartet recorded and mixed their 2008 debut EP Rotten Apples live. In one day. Quite impressive! The result harnessed a sound that reflects a range of influences from James Brown and Al Green to The Beatles and Donovan.

THE SILENT COMEDY

Founded by brothers Joshua and Jeremiah Zimmerman, Silent Comedy specializes in “cabaret rock,” i.e. costumes, theatrical videos and performances. With a look right out of a turn-of-the-century ghost town — heavy on the mustaches, waistcoats, and dusty trail hats — their sound melds acoustic rock with a touch of bluegrass, similar to Nickel Creek or the  1960’s version of Norman Greenbaum.“It’s electric blues rock played with folk instruments,” says Jeremiah. “Like a tent revival and a hoedown but happening at a whiskey bar.” Think O Brother, Where Art Thou? set to an experimental-rock soundtrack.

KELLI SCARR

Thursday, November 4
Kelli Scarr is a singer and songwriter. She sang vocals on Moby's album Wait for Me. Scarr also toured with Moby for 15 months in 2009 and 2010.  More recently, she has released an individual album called Piece. Audio for the album was made available on NPR’s  website until its release date, 10 August 2010. Scarr was also nominated for an Emmy Award for her work on the HBO documentary In a Dream.[

MY PEOPLES: LIGHT UP

SKYLER STONESTREET: LIVE FROM HOTEL CAFE

VERNA BEWARE:

Verna Beware collectively consists of singer Kyran Million, drummer AJ Herald, guitarist Taliesin Cook, bassist Michael Million, and trumpet player Bret Noel. The band has experimented with names, genres, and sounds since first forming back at San Marcos High School in 2006. In its current form, the band exists somewhere between prog-y, experimental rock and jazzy, post-punk. The songs hit hard, the drums sizzle, and the lyrics are impressively wrought with emotion.

KITTEN:

Kitten is a rough-around-the-edges pop band from Los Angeles fronted by 15-year-old Chloe Chaidez. I hit the 8 P.M. gig expecting a Hollywood novelty act and left rooting for the mesmerizing teen and her gang of four. Watch for their upcoming EP.

MEIKO:

Meiko is an indie singer/songwriter, born and raised in Roberta, Georgia. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California. She is a shining example of the DIY artist, having independently released a self-titled album on September 1, 2007. With no help from a record label, her album reached #35 on the iTunes Top 100 Albums chart. It was also iTunes’ #1 Folk album for over a month and in just under nine months, over 200,000 singles had been downloaded from iTunes. Several tracks have been featured in primetime TV shows as well. In June 2008 Meiko signed a recording deal with MySpace Records/DGC, who released her album in partnership with Lucky Ear Music (Meiko's own indie label).

THROW RAG:
Throw Rag, a thrash-y garage punk band, hail from the Southern CA Desert near the Salton Sea. Throw Rag's sound brings together elements of vintage rockabilly, Irish folk-punk and the “lite” pop of the Ramones. Also, add just a little good old-fashioned country and blues mixed with a snotty garage band attitude and what you get is a band with an awesomely unique, genre-bending sound!

OLD MAN MARKLEY:

Old Man Markley is a 9-piece band whose members come from the San Fernando Valley. They have an impressive touring resume with the likes of  NOFX and Bouncing Souls. They plan to release their 1st full-length album on Fat Wrecords in early 2011. Basically, with band members from all different walks of life and areas of influence, they have created a scene for SoCal Bluegrass. We promise they will make you dance and stomp your feet! DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!

WIL RIDGE:

Just check this video. Local hero. Ripping.

IMAGINE DRAGONS:

If you like to dance, you have come to the right place. Listening to Imagine Dragons you might find it physically impossible to sit still!!! The band formed in 2008 and have since opened for multiplatinum recording artists, won talent competitions and won several battle of the bands competitions. These Las Vegas natives know how to bring it and captivate audiences and the recording industry.

HONEYCHILD:

HoneyChild is based out of Los Angeles and are creating a big name for themselves in a very short amount of time.  The boys have already been featured alongside Mumford & Son’s as one of Cliche Magazines five bands they want to see at Coachella next year. They have a similar sound to Band of Horses and The Black Keys. They mix a folk-y 70′s vibe with pop-y Kings of Leon-esque soulful rocker twang.  Currently, HoneyChild is unsigned to any record label.
